Eloise Rickman is an author, parent educator and founder of A Beautiful Childhood. She works with clients around the world through online courses and coaching. Her work focuses on evidence-based parenting, home education, and helping families find more rhythm and ease in their daily lives. Extraordinary Parenting (Scribe, 2020) is her first book.
Eloise is a trained doula, and previously studied Social Anthropology at Cambridge University where she first became interested in how childhood and family practices shape society. She believes that parenting can be a radical act, and that changing the way we raise and educate children has the potential to shape and change society for the better.
Influenced by the Montessori and Waldorf approaches, amongst others, and trained in Nonviolent Communication and Sociocracy, Eloise works in a non-judgemental and empathetic way to hold space for parents to find ways for themselves and their children to get their needs met.
Eloise lives in South London in a sunny little house full of books with her husband and young daughter, who has been home educated from birth.

My daughter, Kiana, was born November last and she’s at the stage of expanding her activity space. I’m a mother of a 7month year old daughter living in Germany. She will go to a Montessori Kindergarten when she is about 20 month… At the moment, I’m searching for ideas to also make our home Montessori-like 😉

I really enjoy your blog. Your Frida is a little older than my son so it has been nice to be able to think ahead a bit. As a family we are not as artistic or musical as your family seems to be so it has been really great to see your ideas, things that we would never think of, and then to incorporate them into our home. We need a variety of perspectives to thrive! I was wondering if you had other blogs that you enjoy or might recommend, maybe some that inspire or challenge you the way yours inspires our family?

I came across your blog not so long ago, and I find it very inspirational. I love everything you write! Since my son is 9 months old only, I spent this weekend looking back your first posts on the blog when Frida was younger, and I had such a great time. You got me even chuckling once in a while, there were so many similarities. I just wanted to say thank you. I’ve been realising slowly but surely since having my daughter I want to parent my way, largely because the best moments with my daughter have been when I’ve listened to my inner voice and trusted her to guide me. However, I haven’t really been able to articulate what ‘my way’ is. Your blog has given me the language and sense of permission I needed to both articulate it but also recognise it doesn’t need to be defined, and is and should be an organic process. My daughter and I feel really connected at the moment and I’m pretty sure that’s because I’ve been taking your advice!
